Introducing the PROMETHEUS Project Partner Institutions: Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje

We're excited to introduce you to another prestigious partnering institution on our project. Established in 1949, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje (https://www.ukim.edu.mk) stands as the oldest state university in the Republic of North Macedonia. With a vibrant community comprising 23 faculties, 5 research institutes, and 4 public scientific institutions ‒ associate members, it offers a comprehensive range of study programs in fields spanning science, technology, and arts. The University is partner in many scholarly and research projects. The activities within the PROMETHEUS project are carried out by the Faculty of Philosophy ‒ Institute of Classical Studies (http://www.fzf.ukim.edu.mk).

❦ Elena Džukeska is a full professor of Greek and Latin historical grammar at the Institute of Classical Studies, Faculty of Philosophy, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje (http://fzf.ukim.edu.mk/en/elena-dzukeska-phd/). Her main area of research is Mycenaean Greek and Mycenaean epigraphy, but she is also focused on Greek and Latin epigraphy, Greek dialects, Greek and Latin historical and comparative philology in general and epigraphic heritage education. In the PROMETHEUS project she is coordinator for the University “Ss. Cyril and Methodius”, Skopje.

 

❦ Valerij Sofronievski (58) holds a full-time position in the Faculty of Philosophy at the ‘Ss. Cyril and Methodius University’ in Skopje as a professor of Classics with a primary academic interest in Ancient Greek, and he is a senior researcher within the Communication and Dissemination Team of the PROMETHEUS project.

 

❦ Filip Markovski, a devoted researcher of late ancient and medieval Balkan culture and history, and also a passionate lover of epigraphic legacies, honed his expertise at two institutes within the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje: The Institute of Classical Studies and the Institute of History. This dual academic journey allowed him to create a symbiotic relationship and deepen his understanding of historical periods and writings.
