Andrey Velkov
Andrey Velkov was born in 1977 in Sofia. He graduated in Political Science and Marketing. He's an entrepreneur in the fields of Digital Media and Web3. For the last fifteen years, he has been writing plot-intensive literature, experimenting in genres such as social satire, turborealism, and alternative history. The results of these activities are dozens of short stories, several film scenarios, and five novels: Bulgarian Psycho, The Chronicles of the Unit, No Time Left, The Age of Panic, and the recently published Requiem for a State.

Alexander Manuiloff
Alexander Manuiloff is a Bulgarian writer, playwright, and screenwriter. He studied Theory of Literature and Slavic studies at Sofia University (1997–2003), and specialised at Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic (1999) and the New Bulgarian University (2004). He is the founder of Radar Sofia, the first residency place for foreign playwrights in Bulgaria. For his book Film, Alexander received the Bulgarian Writers’ Guild Award for the best fiction debut in 2004, and his plays have been awarded various prizes, among which the Ivan Radoev National Award for Dramaturgy (2019). Alexander is the first Bulgarian writer presented at Theatertreffen’s Stückemarkt in Berlin, Germany (2015). His works have been translated into more than 15 languages so far. His dramaturgy is already studied in some university programmes in the US. (Georgetown University), and his work has been presented at more than 50 theatre festivals on four continents. A translation of his play The State by Nathalie Bassand and with a preface by Tim Etchells, was published in 2019 in Paris by L'espace d'un Instant/Maison d'Europe et d'Orient. After his 2017 tour to Washington’s Forum Theatre/Woolly Mammoth, the DC Theatre Scene called him “a rare creator”, the Washington Post found his piece “exceptionally thoughtful”, while the Broadway World defined Manuiloff’s writing as being “akin to magical realism”.

Paoulina Micheva
A graduate of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski,” where she completed degrees in Classical Philology and History, she has been actively engaged in teaching for thirty years as a teacher of Latin and Classical Greek at the National High School for Ancient Languages and Cultures “St. Constantine Cyril the Philosopher,” as well as at Zlatarski International School of Sofia.
She contributes regularly to a range of media, including both print and online publications, in the fields of culture and literature. A long-standing associate of the Communitas Foundation, she has worked as an expert evaluator in the field of linguistics. She is also a translator of fiction and popular science literature from English, French, and Italian, with more than 150 translated books.
Currently, she works as a foreign rights agent and editor at Colibri Publishing House, and she teaches in the Master’s Programme in Translation and Editing at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski.”

Ela Ruseva

Alexander ‘Sancho’ Marinov

Alexander ‘Sancho’ Marinov works as a literary translator (from English to Bulgarian, and from Bulgarian to English); he has extensive experience in translating fiction, children’s fiction in particular, and ecology and biology nonfiction, and he is interested in the specifics of the different types of translation and the fruitful interaction between them – from the translator’s perspective. His classical education (BA in Classics from Sofia University “St Kliment Ohridski” and MA in Medieval Studies from CEU, Budapest) adds a further dimension to the process of translation and leads him to unusual solutions for some translational challenges.
