It is embedded in the external wall of the Church of Mala Bogorodica in the village, l. 2, ἔτους μτ is year 340 according to the Macedonian provincial era; l. 6-7, Strabo (VII, 327) writes that Alkomena (Ἀλκομενά, Ἀλκομεναί, Ἀλαλκομεναί), together with Brianion and Stuberra, were cities of the Derriopes situated along the river Erigon. Stephanus of Byzantium also mentions a πόλις named Alkomena. Considering the chronological distance from which both ancient historians wrote, this inscription indicates that Alkomena was a πόλις during the Hellenistic period or earlier. However, by the end of the 2nd century AD (in 192/3), the settlement had already become a κώμη (village) and was most likely part of the Δερριόπων ἔθνος, gravitating toward the increasingly powerful Stυbeρra. The population was organized into phylai, the names of which remain unknown; l. 11-12, in the immediate vicinity of Bela Crkva, the cult of Ζεὺς Ἀγοραῖος is also attested on an inscription from the village of Crnilište (IG X 2, 2, 112); l. 20-22, 32-33, most likely, Titianus was a lapicida. On the same wall of the church, next to this stele, another stele with the same inscription (IG X 2, 2, 349) is embedded. It is assumed that a total of four identical copies were made, intended to be placed in four different locations – one for each of the four phylai mentioned in the inscription. The remaining two copies have not been found.
