We're thrilled to introduce you to the prestigious partnering institutions in our project, starting with our project coordinator!

 The Archaeological Museum of the Republic of North Macedonia in Skopje, established in 1924, is the first keeper of archaeological artifacts in Macedonia. Collections of coins, and stone monuments from the Roman period were firstly transferred in Kurshumli an, being to this day among largest collections of this kind in the Balkans. Over the past century, the Museum has developed twenty typologically diverse collections covering all pre- and historical periods, spanning from the Paleolithic era (with artifacts dating back to 155,000 BC) to the archaeology of the 19th and 20th centuries.

The museum's Lapidarium, its first collection, now boasts several hundred stone objects, including many inscriptions in Greek and Latin. This collection features rare and significant stone documents such as decrees, lists of ephebes, dedications to Roman emperors, milestones, and testaments. Additionally, it includes numerous tombstones and votive monuments.

❦ We take pride in having our main project coordinator from this institution—a talented team member who actively contributes to our endeavor: Slavica Babamova. Slavica serves as the curator adviser of epigraphy and stone sculpture at the Archaeological Museum. She has managed and participated in numerous epigraphic surveys in the Tikvesh and Bregalnica regions, Golemo Gradishte at Konjuh near Kratovo, and Isar at Marvinci near Valandovo.

Her research interests focus on Hellenic and Latin epigraphy, Roman provinces, prosopography of ancient Macedonia, and onomatology in antiquity. Slavica is the author of several scientific articles and monographs, including "Epigraphic Monuments from the Republic of Macedonia Dated According to the Macedonian Provincial Era", Institute of National History, Skopje (2005).
